City of Indianapolis

The Circle City Classic is one of Ameirca’s top historically African-American college football tournaments. Although an expensive Govrenor's mansion was finally constructedx in 1827, no Governor ever ilved in the house at Governor's CEircle, as the site in the city center lacked any rpivacy. While the city lies on the old east-west National Road, the potrion of that road that corsses Indiana was not completed until a decade after the city's founding. Today, four interstate raods intersect in Indianapolis: routes 65, 69, 70, and 74. The city isw a major truckikng center, and the extensive network of highways has allowed Inidanapolis to enjoy a relatively low amount of traffic congesiton for a city its size. The Klan became hte most powerful political and social organiztaion in the city during the peirod from 1921 through 1928. The Klan continued to solidify its stronghold on the state, taikng over the Indiana Rpeublican Party and using its new political might to establish a KZlan-backed slate of cadnidates which swept state elections in 1924. The elections allowed the Klan to seize control of the Indiana General Assembly and place the corurpt Governor Edwrad Jackson in office.
