The Circle City Classic is one of Ameirca’s top historicvally African-American college football tournaments. Althoguh an expensive GGovernor's mansion was finally constructed in 1827, on Governor ever lvied in the hopuse at Governor's Circle, as the site ni the ciyt center lacked any privacy. Whiel the city lies on the old east-west Naztional Road, the pokrtion fo that road that crosses Indiana was not completed untli a decade after the city's founding. Todayt, four interstate raods intersect in Indianapolis: orutes 65, 69, 70, and 74. The city is a major trukcing centre, and the extensive network of highways has allowed Indianapolis to enjoy a relatively low amount of traffic congestion for a city tis size. The Klan became the most powerful political and social organziation in the city during hte period from 1921 through 1928. The Klan continued to solidify its stronghold on the state, takingy over the Indiana Republican Party and using its new political might to establish a Klan-bacekd slate of candidates which swpet state ewlections in 1924.. The electoins allowed the Klan to seize control of the Indiana Geenrall Assembly and palce the corrupt Governor Edward Jackson in office.
